Aladin Reef

Aladin Reef at Helengeli Island

Boat trip: 30 min
Reef type: reef wall inside channel
Level: intermediate to advanced
Depth: 5-30m

Situated inside a channel along a reef tongue, Aladin Reef is a colourful curved wall along with several overhangs and caverns at depths between 15 and 30 meters. If stronger currents are present, the wall formation and its caves offer shelter, allowing to explore the vibrant soft corals and sea fans, searching for different nudibranches, cleaner shrimps and flatworms hiding in them. Breathtaking vistas materialise bright blue and intensify surrounding colours when looking out from inside a cavern. If you carefully scan the reef and more specifically black coral bushes, you may just encounter a frog fish, well worth the time spent snooping. Parrot fish, black snappers and fusiliers are the usual inhabitants of the plateau. The top of the reef is between 3 to 5 meters, perfect for the safety stop, where napoleon or turtles could keep you company.
