Thila Bari

Experience level: easy diving, if current isn’t too strong

Fauna: typical variety of fish life of an inner reef, means lots of fish-kinder garden, like blue-stripe snappers and fusiliers; whitetip reef sharks, turtles, butterfly fish of all kinds

Particular features: 4 thilas one after the other

During north-east monsoon: mostly ingoing current, dive reef to the right side; be careful that you don’t miss the third thila nor change direction; with strong current you will meet sometimes heavy counter-current between the thilas, don’t get confused by that; the other side of the thilas, especially at the beginning, is not very nice; here is a shallow dive recommended

During south-west monsoon: mostly outgoing current, dive to the left side; be careful that you don’t miss the third thila nor change direction by accident, if visibility isn’t good; during this period there is a possibility, that you see mantas

Safety considerations: quick descend, as sometimes current flows heavily over the reef flat and carries you to the wrong side
